Patient Journey
At CReATe Durham Fertility, our medical specialists put "you" first and develop personalized care programs to support your dreams of parenthood. Driven by the patient-centric approach, the team first understands your unique needs and fertility issues. Then it prepares a comprehensive, informed, transparent, and focused treatment plan to support the best outcomes. To ensure that the treatment plan is supported and understood, both by the clinician and you, CReATe follows the given parenthood pathway:
You are the leading participant in your fertility journey, so sharing information and being informed is critical. The first step is your appointment with your fertility specialist. This assessment includes documentation of your complete medical history and past treatments (if applicable). It may also include physical examinations, including blood testing, sperm analysis, and ultrasound imaging, to determine infertility’s cause(s). Being open is essential for this stage. Please share how long you’ve been trying to conceive and any difficulties you’ve encountered. Do not hesitate to discuss any questions or concerns with your specialist.
After consultation, your fertility specialist may recommend a few other specialized tests to understand and identify your infertility’s root cause(s). Numerous factors may cause infertility - hormone imbalances, obesity, injury, co-morbidities (PCOS, Cancer, STDs), problems with egg and sperm production, age, genetic predispositions, family history, and exposure to dangerous chemicals or radiation, to list a few.
Your test results will aid your medical diagnosis and will assist your fertility specialist in developing a treatment plan for you.
Know more:
Your fertility specialist will review your diagnostic test results and provide you with a medical evaluation. This discussion and information are essential as they will help you understand your infertility’s reason(s) and the underlying cause(s). It is vital to know that in 20% of cases, the diagnosis is “unexplained” since no underlying cause for infertility may be identified.
Your specialist will also provide you with a treatment plan to address your fertility issues. Please feel free to request more information on the diagnosis, recommended treatment plan, and, most importantly, your expected outcome. We recommend that you be open and optimistic at this stage.
Your fertility journey and treatment plan will also be determined by your family structure and individual needs, which we recognize and respect at CReATe Durham Fertility. CReATe provides fertility options for all people, including LGBTQ2+ parents. One of the following treatment options may be advised:
- IUI (intrauterine insemination),
- IVF (in-vitro fertilisation),
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI),
- Surrogacy and other alternatives may also be addressed.
A detailed treatment plan to support your dreams of parenthood will be provided to you.
Cycle monitoring is essential to track the development of eggs and follicles and to assess hormone levels. A cycle monitoring plan will be provided to you to support your intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. CReATe Durham Fertility will provide cycle monitoring and follow-up care following intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in-vitro fertilization (IVF) therapy. CReATe Durham Fertility also has a team of counselors to provide mental and emotional support during your reproductive journey.
